“Truth In Ink”

'Truth in Ink' series

Part One - Steve

All my life I have been drawing and fascinated with art. From a very young age (high school) I was carving crosses and ribbons into my forearms with a compass, so I guess the progression to tattoo art was very much a natural one. Small tattoos on my shoulders (a swallow and a dragon on each) started it all. Then larger tattoos on my back. The obsession and the dedication to this art form grew. As the less visible parts of my body were adorned with colour, the decision was gradually made to take the step to more visible areas, and the commitment to bear them for life. Traditional art was always a big influence, both American and Japanese. Because they are timeless art forms, the style always remains the same, not affected by "fads" or the "style of the moment." To me, my art for life will never go out of fashion, for me. That is such a special personal thing and keeps me wanting (and designing and planning) more ideas.

Being a drummer and DJ, I have been hugely influenced by music over the years! From rock (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters) to Alternative (The Cure, The Smiths) to Metal (Metallica, Slayer) to Mod / Ska (Madness, The Specials). Ultimate tune... The Cure - A Forest.

I suggest you listen to this pretty cruisey list to play while enjoying the Pinot Noir:

1- Red Right Hand - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2- Alice in Chains - Rooster
3- Cold Shot - Stevie Ray Vaughan
4- Sunday - Sonic Youth
5- One Step Beyond - Madness
6- Love Removal Machine - The Cult
7- London Calling - The Clash
8- Fool For Your Loving - Whitesnake
9- China Girl - David Bowie
10- One Inch Man - Kyuss
